In the meantime, the most direct means of contributing to the growth of a team still remains the draft. Yes, you can sign a major impact player via free agency, but that truly only happens once every blue moon. Yes you can trade the farm for an elite talent that may solidify your finals chances (Rasheed Wallace to Detroit 2004) or you can pick up an available talent off the waiver wire. All of those are viable options, yet none of those are better than drafting talent and growing it yourself with the right support staff to back said player. Look at this years Playoffs for example, many of the prominent teams have added free agents but they all have a core group of guys that they drafted with a plan. This brings us to this years draft, lets look at what may happen come next Thursday.
